When we asked Peggy what color
she wanted her room,
I expected pink, or baby blue
with polka dots. Instead, she
stared at me, wide brown eyes,
eyelashes flicking with each blink.
Mommy. I want the color of spinach,
It'll remind me
to eat my vegetables.
